Special Studies in Leadership and Small Group Dynamics (MSGN 497)

Are you a leader on campus? Looking to become a more effective leader?

The Student Activities Office proudly offers a 3-credit course during the spring semester to explore your leadership potential. This class is for established leaders as well as up-and-coming leaders. Through class discussion and experiential activities, students will learn about the dynamics of leadership. Upon completing this course, students should be able to develop a clear sense of the definition and purpose of leadership, utilize multiple leadership concepts to understand leadership situations, understand the impact of individual differences on the practice of leadership, understand the personal strengths and weaknesses as a leader and follower, and develop a personal approach to the practice of leadership. Key components of the course include a leadership reading, journaling, and participation in a service project.

Class topics include: Leadership Styles, Personality Types, Emotional Intelligence, Ethics and Integrity, Communication, Facilitation, Conflict Management, and more.
